About Us

We are a small group of former Kongwa pupils who were boarders at the school during the late 1940s and 1950s, now scattered all over the globe and all leading very different lives, who travelled back to the site of our old school in Tanzania in 2008 for the 60th Anniversary of its opening in 1948.  What we found on that very moving journey brought home to us the plight of this new little school built on some of our foundations.

Mnyakongo Primary School is in a remote and economically depressed region; it had no electricity and rudimentary educational facilities. We all made a pact to assist the education of the children in whatever way we could and if you look around this site you will see our achievements so far and our dreams for the future.  Our overall aim is to help them help themselves to a better future.

Every penny donated to Mnyakongo School Project directly benefits the children of the school. We know this because we take it there.  We do not take a cut or a fee.   This is our pledge.
