January :
This year started well with 700 children enrolled at the school, news of good rains to come and hopes of plentiful crops by April should the rains continue and, if they do, the price of maize should then drop considerably.
February :
The rains were not enough to ensure good crops and there’s a need to provide maize for the school lunches – possibly until April! Maize prices are high at this time. The Project was able to send some funds to cover the purchase of maize for the first two months but is seeking donations to provide for the two months after that. Please go to the “Donate” page if you are able to help.
They travelled far to find the best price for maize – the older children unloaded it on arrival at the school.

May:
Repairs have been made to the borehole pump and the children are now able to gather water again. There is a need for a filter to be fitted to the pump as the water is very salty. This will be investigated and quote obtained for the work.
